"Goldilocks"

A ballet ( more specifically ballet d'action) is a story told with movement, and expression (acting).  In the ballet "Goldilocks" the story is told of how Goldilocks came to the Bear's house, and what happens after.

The music and story were composed by Stephen Evans in 1993 - I was given permission in 1994 to produce the North American Premiere of Goldilocks, which was performed in the spring of 1995.  And again, Mr. Evans kindly gave permission to stage the ballet for the spring of 2009!

I am pleased to be able to offer students an opportunity to perform a full length ballet (with concert pianist Ross Paisley) - an opportunity to apply the techniques of the dance craft to the stage!

As with any production, commitment from the dancers (and the parents who have to drive them) is absolutely necessary to ensure the end result is the best of our abilities combined.   Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays and Saturdays - and yes -  we will have the occasional weekend off.

How this works:

  1. Auditions have now  been completed and the roles of characters filled, parents are required to submit a non-refundable payment of $50 rehearsal fee ($100 for the lead role of Goldilocks). Students having more than one role will be charged a rehearsal fee $75.00.  Rehearsals will start  October 4th.

  2. The Centennial Theatre has already been booked for the performances of March 7th and March 14th - 2pm and 7pm shows each day.  Rehearsals at the theatre will be on March 4th and March 11th - times TBA.

  3. Costumes will be used for both the ballet in March and for the recital in May.  Any additional costs/rentals of costumes will be discussed with parents before charging any additional fee.

  4. Students missing more than 3 rehearsals without a sufficient reason will not be allowed to perform.
